INGREDIENTS
3 LBS beef short ribs
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 Tbs oil to sear the meat
1 medium onion, minced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp minced ginger
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1 and 1/2 cups baby carrots
1 cup white mushrooms
2 Tbs flour
2 cups chicken or beef broth
1/3 cup Tamari sauce
1/2 cup Hoisin sauce
2 Tbs rice vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
1 Tbs brown sugar
Directions
1. Season Short ribs with salt and pepper.
2. Heat up oil in a pot over medium heat and sear short ribs for 3 minutes on each side or until the develop a golden brown color. Remove from the pan and set aside for later.
3. Add minced onion to the pan and saute for 2 minutes.
4. Add minced garlic, minced ginger and red pepper flakes then saute for another 1 minute.
5. Toss in the carrots and mushrooms and cook for 3 minutes to soften a little.
6. Add the flour, mix it in to cook for 1 minute.
7. Add the chicken broth, Tamari sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil and brown sugar. Mix everything in until very well combined.
8. Toss in the seared meat then allow to come to a simmer.
9. Turn heat to low and cook for 3 hours.
10. Serve and enjoy.
